Unpack This

July 6, 2009

Hello Everyone!

This is the first in what will hopefully be many World Literature posts.

The student union met today; we elected a campus representative and brainstormed possible events for the 2009/2010 year. We will be meeting again on July 20th, at 3:15 pm in Surrey (the room has yet to be booked)(but trust me, you will know when one is).

We are also hoping to start up a newsletter, with the first issue to come out in September. In it we will include the creative works of World Literature students – if you are interested in submitting a piece, feel free to contact me through the SFU webmail, or on the Facebook page.

The student union is also interested in beginning a book club, and possibly hosting manuscript parties (given how many burgeoning writers and poets are in the program, it only makes sense). We are looking into getting a common room (we are looking very seriously – I really want us to have a common room!) and are exploring fundraising possibilities for the 2010 ACLA Conference in New Orleans.

I could talk endlessly, but it would all be conjecture and aimless rambling at this point. Keep an eye open for later posts, and I hope to see you at the next meeting!
